F.A.Q’s

I've setup my Maximum Signal equipment but I do not see any extra bars on my device, why?

Under the new FCC rules you will not see a drastic change in bars as long as you are getting signal. Only when the signal is really weak will you see that. The new amplifiers keep you connected. Bars are a feel good. The key is an optimal signal. An optimal signal is not necessarily a full signal. It is a signal that gives you clear communication and better uploads and downloads. With new amplifier optimal performance occurs when you are not right next to the interior antenna but a bit away from it . That is how the carriers want it. They are the ones calling all the shots now and the FCC is abiding by their guidelines.

Which Amplifier do I need?

Well determining what amplifier you need is a simple process of elimination. Follow these steps and you will choose the right product for your needs.

For Amplifiers

1) Who is your cellular Service Provider?

If Your Provider is Nextel, Southern LINC or MIKE in Canada you need our IBA-NEX amplifier

2) If your provider is not an iDen carrier, such as: Verizon, Sprint, AT&T Western Wireless and many others you can one of two ways. The CA819 Dual Band Direct Connect amplifier, or ANY of the Maximum Signal Wireless amplifiers will cover all carriers in North America on both 1900 MHz and 800 MHz.

My Wireless amplifier does not seem to be working, what can I do?

Here are the most important things to check
1) Check all connections i.e. power and antennas
2) if power light is not on , unscrew the end of the Cigarette Lighter adapter , there is a 3 amp glass car fuse , replace if necessary , ( available at any car parts store or garage)
3) It is very important if using a magnetic mount antenna it is mounted on at least an 8 inch by 8 inch metal surface (with ferrous qualities , aluminum will not work ) anything will do a fridge , filing cabinet , Pizza pan , baking sheet , cookie tin etc.
4) Antenna separation with wireless amplifiers is very important . Make sure you have the proper vertical and horizontal separation as per instruction manual . Remember to always power down amplifier when moving antennas and power amplifier back after antennas are in place.

My direct connect amplifier does not seem to be working, what can I do?

Here are the most important things to check:
1) Check all connections i.e. power , antenna and adapter cables

How do I insert the antenna adapter into my phone?

80% of the cellular handsets on the market have an RF out port on the back of the handset.

Look for a rubber plug or plastic cut out on the back of the phone just below the antenna. Remove it, that is your RF out port and where your adapter cable plugs in See illustration below:

My phone does not have an RF out port, how do I connect an amplifer?

If your phone doesn’t have an RF out port, you can try one of our Induction adapters, or go with a wireless amplifier. your best option is a wireless amplifier, as this will eliminate the need for antenna adapters.

What is a Ground Plane?

A Ground Plane is a flat surface of ferrous metal (galvanized, steel, etc) that a Magnet Mount or Body Mount antenna uses as an integrated part of it. For a Body mount antenna other metals may be used as it does not have a magnet that needs to stick to it.
A Metal Car Body is a ground plane.
The metal top of a refrigerator is a ground plane.
A filing cabinet is a good ground plane.
A tin roof is a Ground Plane.
A ground plane can be a cookie sheet!
A ground plane is NOT a metal roof gutter, a window frame, a downspout or any other piece of metal that is long and thin.
A ground plane MUST satisfy BOTH length and width dimensions outlined below. Antenna gains are calculated with an infinite ground plane. Performance can be achieved with the minimums outlined below.
Just as long as it is big enough:
for Dual Band/800 MHz/Nextel = 14″ x 14″ Minimum (28″ x 28″ recommended)
for 1900 MHz only = 6″ x 6″ minimum (12″ x 12″ recommended)
A Ground Plane does not need to be electrically grounded. It simply needs to be a plane of metal.
Your local hardware store sells galvanized roof flashing for cheap that can be used as a ground plane.
Please note, the antenna should be mounted in the CENTER of the ground plane for a circular pattern
